The Moniteau County 4-H Council held its annual Recognition Day

— Sunday, Oct. 13, at the United Church of Christ in California with the Show-Me Club hosting the event. The event was held to recognize the Moniteau County 4-H members on accomplishments for the 2012-2013 4-H Year. Dana Joerling, the new 4-H Youth Specialist presented the certificates, awards, plaques and project discs.


Being recongized are front row, left to right, Keegan Borts, Kendal Borts, Tanner Gentzsch, Trey Coffelt, Avery Coffelt, Cody Nichols, Alyssa Nichols; back row, Angela McNay, Maggie McNay, Jayden Klund, Courtney Matthews, Payten Hampton, Kathy Gerlach, Ashley Nichols and Dakota Matthews.

Plaques were presented for the Outstanding 11-13 Year Old Members: Alli Watts, Eager Eagles Club and Mitchell Moon, Tipton Club.

The Outstanding Older Member plaque went to Dakota Matthews, Eager Eagles Club.

Recipients for the Outstanding Project Leader Award were Dewayne Jenkins, Wood Working Project Leader from the Show-Me Club, and Alison Gerlach, First-Aid and Photography of the Eager Eagles Club.

The Outstanding Club Leader Award was presented to Kathy Gerlach of the Eager Eagles Club along with the Outstanding Club Award.

Each year an award is given in memory of Pam Jones to a 4-H volunteer who has exemplified the volunteer leadership shown by her. This year that award was given to Kelly Glascock, President of the Moniteau County 4-H Council and co-leader of the Tipton Club.

Also, every year the council honors a person, business or organization that has helped the County 4-H Program. This year the Friend of 4-H Award went to Mary Anne Patten. Patten retired this year after serving 11 years working with youth and adults in the areas of 4-H and Youth Development in Morgan and Moniteau counties.

Alli Watts won the t-shirt design contest and assisted Dana Joerling in passing out the county 4-H t-shirts to all the members who completed their record forms.

The awards presentation concluded with dining on the finger foods brought in my the members' families.
