Moniteau County Historical Society schedules annual dinner

California The Moniteau County Historical Society met at the Cultural Heritage Center Monday, Oct. 14, at 7:30 p.m. President Pam Green called the business meeting to order. The minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and corrections made. The treasurer’s report was presented and bills approved for payment.
The president called for committee reports beginning with James Albin for the genealogy library. He reported the shelves had been delivered and installed for the new addition. The building committee reported there were still a few items to be finished.
Paul Jungmeyer stated it was suggested to hold a pie auction as a fundraiser. It was agreed that an open house for the new
genealogy library would be held in the spring.
Hospitality chair, Irma Plaster announced the annual meeting and dinner will be Monday, Nov. 11, at St. Paul’s Lutheran church at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $10 and Abraham Lincoln will be the guest speaker.
Martin reported on the raffle sale which is a fundraiser to help with the regular maintenance and bill payment of the center.
Nancy Martin gave a report on the Ham and Turkey Festival stating more people were needed to be available in the museum and upstairs to assist visitors. She also expressed appreciation to Don and Carol Jungmeyer for producing the tape to demonstrate the sound of the melodian for visitors to hear.
Ballots were given to members on which to vote for the Spirit of Manito Award for this year. The committee of previous recipients received the ballots and the winner will be announced and award presented at the annual meeting in November.
The meeting adjourned and members toured the new genealogy library to view the shelves and materials in place.
