Democrat Club hear about voting statistics

The Moniteau County Democratic Club shared a supper of chicken noodle soup and pecan pie at its monthly meeting Thursday, Oct. 24, in Tipton. There was a short business meeting with the club voting to not meet again until January. The club will be doing the quarterly Highway 50 litter pickup Saturday, Nov. 2. Members will meet at Van Adams Law Office at 10 a.m.

The speaker for the evening was Matt Nappe a staff member with the Missouri State Democratic Committee. Nappe is a data analyst for the party. His comments for the evening was to share the great amount of voter data that is now available to help candidates plan and carry out their campaign. He expressed concern over the low voter turn out in this country. He pointed out in Europe voter turnout would range from 75 to 80 percent, but in the U.S. it was under 50 percent.

When it's an off year elections it would even be lower. The data collected will be available to the club to look at Moniteau County voting patterns.
