The California Middle School football teams played their final games of the 2013 season at home at Riley Field Oct. 21, where both the seventh and eighth grade Pintos defeated the Versailles Tigers.
California's seventh grade captured a 36-0 win to end the season undefeated, 6-0.
"Good season," California Coach Don delRosario said. "We had a couple of games where we just made one or two more plays to remain undefeated."
In the contest against Versailles, California rushing was led by Isaac Ash who had two carries for a total of 58 yards, and Colden Imhoff who had six carries for a total of 55 yards.
Dakota Henry led California tackles with six.
The eighth grade Pintos defeated Versailles 22-0 to end the season 4-2.
"If our eighth grade could repeat the first two games with the revised team we played with the last three games, the eighth grade would be 6-0 as well," California Coach Ed Ziegs said.
Jacob Wolken led California rushing with 12 carries for 149 yards. Toby Dalbey led tackles with six, followed by Cory Friedmeyer with five.
"The eighth grade won their last four games," Ziegs said. "This is the last team I'll coach and I couldn't be more proud of a group of players."
California Coach Scott Loring added, "We started the season off slow, but finished with a flurry."
Previously, the Pintos traveled to Ashland Oct. 15, where both CMS teams defeated Southern Boone.
The seventh grade Pintos led in rushing by Imhoff with 13 carries for 38 yards, followed by Ash with four carries for 26 yards. Imhoff also led tackles with 5.5.
"It was a matchup of two undefeated teams and both played that way," Coach delRosario said. "The Pintos slipped past Southern Boone with a late touchdown in the fourth quarter."
California's eighth grade also defeated Southern Boone and was led in rushing by Wolken with 12 carries for 166 yards and also led tackles with seven. Kyle Hofstetter had five tackles.
"The Pintos jumped out to a 30-8 halftime lead and never looked back," California Coach Andy Bieri said. "It was the biggest offensive scoring of the season for the Pintos. We consistently moved the ball down the field."
California hosted Osage Oct. 10, where both the seventh and eighth grade captured a win.
Henry led the seventh grade Pintos in rushing with 18 carries for 129 yards. Imhoff followed with 13 carries for 110 yards.
"Dakota Henry and Calton Imhoff compliment each other so well," California Coach Dennis Davis said. "It's a good combination of Henry's speed and Imhoff's power game."
Kyle Riley led Pinto tackles with three.
Isaac Ash scored from 18 yards out on the last play of the game to keep the seventh grade Pintos undefeated.

California's eighth grade was led in rushing by Wolken with 30 carries for 216 yards. Friedmeyer led tackles with six.
Wolken was 5 for 10 passing for a total of 27 yards.
"We kept calling an option read and let Wolken do his thing and he picked apart the Osage defense," Coach delRosario said. "They didn't have an answer for him and weren't able to adjust at the half."
