CHS to host ACT Workshops

CHS to host ACT Workshops

ACT Workshops will be held at California High School during the 2013-14 school year to help current juniors and seniors prepare for the ACT Test.

CHS teacher Dana Barr will instruct a six-hour workshop for the English/Reading sections of the ACT. CHS teachers Amy Kuebler and Peggy Huhmann will instruct the Science Reasoning/Math sections in a second workshop on separate dates.

For this to be effective, students should ideally attend all sessions for either the English/Reading or the Math/Science Reasoning Workshops and then take the ACT Test. Instruction, practice, and simulated testing will be provided.

Students attending a workshop must purchase a work book for $21. If attending both workshops, both work books will be needed at a total of $42.

A group order will be placed for work books through the CHS office at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3. Checks must be made payable to CHS, or cash must be given to the office staff by that time. Students must have possession of the work book in order to attend the workshops.

Workshop dates for the first semester are as follows:

• English/Reading - 5:45-7:45 p.m. in the CHS Media Room

Nov. 20.

• Science Reasoning/Math - 5:45-7:45 p.m. in Room 141
