California CROP Walk set for Sunday, Sept. 7

The 2014 California CROP Walk is set for Sunday, Sept. 7. The event will begin at 4 p.m. at the Lions Club Shelter House at Proctor Park.

The theme of the event, which is being conducted in about 2,000 cities and towns across the country, is "Ending Hunger One Step at a Time." Last year, more than $19,000 was raised by those participating in the California CROP Walk. A portion of the funds raised this year will be utilized by the Moniteau Christian Ministries Center for the food pantry and the buddy pack program.

The interfaith CROP Walks are part of Church World Service and raise funds to assist local communities, helping build wells, provide animals or seeds and training to help people provide for their families.
