Jamestown man dies after being thrown from ATV in crash

A Jamestown man died Thursday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Moniteau County.

Missouri Highway Patrol reports show the accident occurred at Missouri 87 and Business 50 in California around 8:32 a.m.

Raymond Varner, 72, Jamestown, made a right turn on 87, driving an ATV, and struck a vehicle driven by Amy Miller, 38, Russellville.

Varner was thrown from the ATV. He was not wearing a safety helmet.

Miller, who was wearing a seat belt, had no reported injuries.

Three people were injured in a two-vehicle accident at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday on U.S. 50 east of Scott Branch Road in Moniteau County.

According to the Highway Patrol, a 1998 Chevrolet Suburban, driven eastbound by Tyler J. Akin, 27, Camdenton, crossed the center line and struck a 1999 Chevrolet S10, driven by Wanda S. Hendricks, 53, Jefferson City, head-on.

Hendricks and a passenger, William J. Hendricks Sr., 58, Jefferson City, were taken to University of Missouri Hospital. Akin was taken to St. Mary's Health Center.

Everyone was wearing seat belts.
