Holiday Gospel concert proclaims Christian story

Tenor Ernie Haase has been singing Southern Gospel for a long time - over half his life.

And he'll celebrate his 50th birthday Friday, by singing in Jefferson City.

Haase's quartet - Ernie Haase & Signature Sound - performs at 7 p.m. Friday at the Miller Performing Arts Center, 501 Madison St.

The Jefferson City stop is the third of four "Christmas Tour" concerts in a row this week, that began Wednesday in Greensboro, Ga., and ends Saturday night in Lubbock, Texas.

VIP tickets for Friday's Miller Center program are $35, which includes premium seating and VIP Parking. General tickets are $20, for reserved seating.

Tickets can be reserved by calling 573-230-2354.

Promotor Betty Nally said tickets have been selling well, and only a few may be available today.

General reserved tickets also may be available by calling Itickets at 800-965-9324 or by going online, to www.itickets.com/events/329210.

Ernie Haase & Signature Sound has been a group for about a dozen years.

They have been nominated for a Grammy Award and have won the GMA Dove Award.

But Haase's been singing Gospel for more than a quarter century, including work with the group Redeemed, with the Gaither Homecoming Tour and, from 1990-99, with the Cathedrals.

Hired by that group's bass singer, George Younce, Haase soon was attracted to Younce's youngest daughter - and married her in December 1990.

Lisa Younce Haase works in the "Signature Sound" office, helping manage the group's business affairs.
