After getting all they could handle from a feisty Jamestown squad in the semifinals of the Tipton Basketball Tournament, the host Lady Cardinals carried their momentum into Saturday's final, dropping New Bloomfield 57-53 to win the tournament championship.
Tipton senior forward Ashton Pace finished with 26 points and 10 rebounds against New Bloomfield, helping the Lady Cardinals overcome an 11-point deficit in the fourth quarter and improve to 4-0 on the season. Tipton closed out Saturday's game on a 20-5 run to stun the Lady Wildcats.
"To be down by 11 with 4:30 left and come back to win, that was a great victory for our team," Tipton head coach Jason Culpepper said. "Our girls never quit."
