Man pleads guilty to Mandy Black murder

Joseph Arbeiter, 66, Sedalia, entered a guilty plea to Class A Felony murder of Mandy Black, 35, in the first degree in Clay County Court on Dec. 5, and was sentenced to life in prison without possibility of probation or parole. He also plead guilty to Felony armed criminal action and was sentenced to a second life term to be served concurrently.

The murder charge was originally brought as a result of dismembered remains found in his trailer and buried on nearby property. The remains were later identified as those of Black. She had resided in Sedalia and Marshall after leaving California, where she attended high school.

Arbeiter also was sentenced after entering guilty pleas to half a dozen other felony charges ranging from rape, sodomy, assault and possession of controlled substances. Those sentences are to be served concurrently, but consecutively with the murder and armed criminal action sentences.
