Open house at Central Missouri Community Action

The Central Missouri Community Action (CMCA) held an open house Monday, Dec. 8, for those who wished to check out the new office location at 320 South Oak Street, California, meet the staff and enjoy refreshments.

Community Services Specialist Stefani Thompson is based at the California office Monday through Wednesday. Community Services Program Manager Brooke Eskridge, who supervises eight counties, is based in Columbia. Homebased Child and family Development Advocate Dawn Zurmiller is based at Moniteau County Head Start. Secretary Ruth Ellis is found at the California office. Phone 573-796-3238.

According to Thompson, CMCA is looking for businesses who would be willing to partner with the organization and its MWA program (Missouri Work Assistance). Needed are businesses willing to allow participants to gain employment job skills and training either as a volunteer at their business or through the Subsidized Employment program.

"I would love to hear from any businesses that may have some interest in how they can be a part of making the community a better place," said Thompson.

The non-profit CMCA provides help to struggling families in the counties of Audrain, Boone, Callaway, Cole, Cooper, Howard, Moniteau, and Osage. There are financial assistance programs.
