California boys, Jamestown boys pick up wins at Missouri National Guard Shootout

The California boys basketball team got a win - and a little revenge - at Saturday's National Guard Shootout in Jefferson City.

After losing to Hermann the past two years at the Shootout, the Pintos got their payback Saturday with a 61-44 victory over the Bearcats. California, which improved to 7-0 this season, next plays at Southern Boone on Jan. 9.

Senior guard Jaden Barr led the way against Hermann, finishing with 26 points and receiving MVP honors for the game. Senior forward Drew Norton added 22 points.

In four victories last week over Cuba, Blair Oaks, Fatima and Hermann, the Pintos outscored their opponents by a total score of 238-171.

Jamestown 52, Calvary Lutheran 50 (OT)

Junior Wyatt Hunziker finished with 19 points for the Eagles, who squeaked past Calvary Lutheran in overtime at Saturday's National Guard Shootout. Jamestown senior Trevor Barbour added 15 points and was named MVP for the game.

New Bloomfield 54, Jamestown 40

Junior guard Lexi Muri had 13 points for the Lady Eagles, who fell to New Bloomfield at the National Guard Shootout on Saturday. Junior guard Alli Muri finished with 12 points and junior forward Mackenzie Strother scored 10.

Tipton girls update

The Lady Cardinals kept their perfect season rolling with victories last week over Kaysinger Conference opponent Smithton and non-conference foe Centralia. Tipton (9-0, 2-0 Kaysinger) beat Smithton, 79-11, on Tuesday, Dec. 16, and got past Centralia, 57-50, on Thursday.

Russellville 69, St. Elizabeth 49

Senior Levi Anderson finished with 23 points and 11 rebounds for the Indians, who beat St. Elizabeth on Tuesday, Dec. 16. Russellville senior Coy Bond had 18 points and freshman Beau Bryant scored 16.

Tuscumbia 79, Russellville 43

Sophomore forward McKendra Fischer had eight points for the Lady Indians, who fell to Tuscumbia on Monday, Dec. 15. Sophomore guard Libby Mueller and senior guard Adrianna Basnett each scored seven.

Prairie Home boys update

The Panthers split a pair of games last week, beating Otterville, 60-36, on Monday, Dec. 15, and losing to Chamois, 56-46, on Friday night. Against Otterville, Prairie Home senior Kody Simmons had 13 points and freshman Creed Flood scored nine. Against Chamois, senior Rayce Kendrick finished with 20 points and senior Klay Holliday scored 10. The Panthers' record was 3-3 after the Chamois game.
