Tipton school ballot measure discussed

The Tipton R-VI School Board discussed a bond issue to be placed on the April ballot at its regular monthly meeting Wednesday, Dec. 17.

The preliminary budget figures were discussed by the Septagon construction management team of Dennis Paul, Nick Smith and Jim Russell, who then were available to answer questions. Architect Robert Rollings was also present to answer any questions.

The board selected the ballot language to be used for the bond issue proposal, and Larry Hart of L.J. Hart and Company presented handouts covering treasury note yields, offered suggestions for a successful bond issue campaign and a proposed schedule of events to be held prior to the election.

Superintendent Scott Jarvis explained that only one bid was received for technology needs. Midwest Computech, highlighted projects, completed current inventory and future plans. Following Jarvis' recommendation, the board approved the bid.

The board was informed that it should be considering the feasibility of summer school. There have been two proposals for repair of the ditch areas. Nothing will be done until input is received from the architect.
