The California Middle School eighth grade girls basketball team hosted Osage for the Lady Pintos' final game of the season and Eighth Grade Night Jan. 30, where they defeated the Lady Indians 36-14 to end the season with just two losses, 13-2.

After an even 4-4 first quarter, the Lady Pintos led 13-4 at the half and 26-9 after three quarters, then outscored Osage 10-5 in the final frame to secure the win.

California was led by Elizabeth Lutz with 14 points and one assist. Brittney Ellington had eight points and Caitlin Halsey had six. Emma Baer chipped in with four.

"This group of girls has a lot of heart and they are fun to watch," California Coach Jennifer Porter said. "They had a successful season with only two losses, which were both very competitive games. The girls learned from those losses, along with their other games. I'm very proud of them and I look forward to watching these girls in the future. They are very talented."
