Russellville boys
The Indians traveled to Prairie Home Friday night where they won a close contest against the Panthers, 53-52, in overtime, thanks to Coy Bond, who sank a game-winning shot with 12 seconds left to play.
Levi Anderson led Russellville with 27 points and 11 rebounds. Bond had 10 points and Patrick Shirley chipped in with eight.
Russellville played Macks Creek Saturday at the Camdenton Shootout, where the Indians lost 57-49 led by Anderson with 33 points.
The Indians were on the road Monday where they lost 67-43 to Vienna. Anderson led Russellville with 19 points, followed by Bond with 10. Russellville's JV lost a one-quarter game to Vienna, 10-4. Tyler Voss had three points for the JV Indians.
Russellville will host Stover at 6 p.m. Friday for Homecoming. The coronation will be held at halftime.
Russellville girls
The Lady Indians played Versailles Monday night in the first round of the Russellville Girls First Annual Basketball Tournament, where they captured a 63-54 win from the Lady Tigers led by A.J. Grellner with 28 points and nine rebounds. Hannah Matthews and Emma Koestner each scored nine points.
Versailles was led by Duanna Frerking with 13.
Russellville played Father Tolton in the semifinal round of the tourney Tuesday, Jan. 28, however, game results were not available at press time.
The championship game is scheduled for 8 p.m. Thursday, with the consolation game to be played at 5 p.m., followed by the third place game at 6:30 p.m.
Previously in regular season play, the Lady Indians lost 53-40 to North Callaway Jan. 16 at the South Callaway Tournament. Grellner and Haley Windsor led Russellville with 11 points each. Grellner also led rebounds with six. Adrianna Basnett scored seven.
Russellville then lost 40-27 to New Haven Jan. 18 at the South Callaway Tournament, to finish in fourth place.
Matthews led Russellville with nine points. Grellner had six points and led rebounds with three.
The Lady Indians traveled to St. Elizabeth Jan. 20, where Russellville suffered a 64-33 loss.
Windsor led the Lady Indians with 10 points. Grellner had eight points and led rebounds with six.
Russellville hosted Crocker Thursday night, where the Lady Indians captured a 51-44 win.
Russellville led 15-10 after the first quarter, 27-23 at the half, and 39-33 after three quarters.
Grellner led the Lady Indians (6-10) with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Matthews added 11 points.
Prairie Home girls
The Lady Panthers (11-4) were on the road Jan. 22, where they captured a 50-46 win against LaMonte led by Rachel Distler with 20 points. Shianne Rhorer followed with 16 and Makayla Zey scored 10.
LaMonte was led by Madison Harus with 17 points.
"The girls battled the entire game to win," Prairie Home Coach Linda Scott said. "We worked the ball well, passing a lot until we got the shots we wanted. We ended the night with three girls in double figures, Distler, Rhorer and Zey. We're improving every game out."
Previously, Prairie Home hosted Higbee Jan. 21, where the Lady Panthers defeated the Lady Tigers 63-31. Distler, Zey and Rhorer led Prairie Home with 17 points each. Josie Flood added nine.
Higbee was led by Rhiannon Runyon with 11.
"As a team, we hit six of 11 free throws," Scott said. "It's super to have six different kids score. Outstanding team work. Rachel Distler made some super passes to open teammates, which is making us a different team. Everyone is looking to score now. We just play so well as a team."
The Lady Panthers are currently participating in the CCAA Conference Tournament at Higbee (Jan. 27-Feb. 1). Â
Prairie Home boys
The Panthers (7-8) hosted Russellville Friday night, where Prairie Home lost a close contest to the Indians in overtime, 53-52.
Russellville led 11-7 after one quarter, 27-26 at the half and 42-34 after three quarters, however, Prairie Home outscored the Indians 14-6 in the fourth quarter to tie up the game 48-48 at the end of regulation. The Indians went on to outscore the Panthers 5-4 in overtime to pull off the win.
Rayce Kendrick led Prairie Home with 27 points, five rebounds, five steals and two assists. Kody Simmons had 11 points, seven rebounds and two steals. Jonathan Brandes had seven rebounds and two steals. Ross Kendrick added seven points, and had five rebounds, two steals and two assists.
Previously, the Panthers were on the road Thursday, where they defeated LaMonte 56-43 led by Simmons with 21 points. Rayce Kendrick had 12 and Ross Kendrick had 11.
"We played well," Prairie Home Coach Cary Bibb said. "We have sickness running through our team, so to get a road win showed a lot of grit."
