Dezaree Curtis, a student at Jamestown High School and a junior firefighter with the Jamestown Rural Fire Protection District for three years, received the Youth Lifesaver award. She received the Fire Department Medical First Responder certificate and an Outstanding Service Award.
Tom Shands, California, received the Volunteer of the Year award. He has worked with Red Cross since 1976 and has been a health and safety instructor, Disaster Action Team member, shelter manager, disaster instructor, liaison and mentor for others to follow.
The ceremony was held Tuesday, June 24, at the Capital West Events Center, 1315 Fairgrounds Road, Jefferson City.
