Spielers host employee recognition luncheon

The employees of Spieler's, Inc., gathered for an Appreciation Lunch Monday, June 23.

Dick Spieler gave special recognition to Larry Wyckoff for 43 years and 10 months of full-time employment. Wyckoff started as a service mechanic on Sept. 3, 1970. June 27 will be his last day as a full-time employee as he will be cutting down to three days a week and beginning some much deserved part-time retirement.

Recognition was also given to Mark Knipp, Sales Manager, for his years of service to the dealership. Knipp started as a salesman on Oct. 1, 1990 when the Spieler family had a Chevrolet dealership in Tipton. When that dealership was sold, Knipp moved down to the Chrylser dealership in California, as a salesman. He has held his current position as Sales Manager since May of 2000.

Also recognized for years of service was Richard Elliott, CPA, who has been the dealership's accountant for 45 years. Dick Spieler purchased the Chrysler Plymouth dealership, known as Keil's Garage, from Frank Keil in July of 1968. Richard started doing the books, along with a partner Ronald Kirchhoff, in 1969 or early 1970. After a number of years Richard became associated with Evers & Co., CPA's, and has continued to do the accounting work through that firm until the present.

Since the dealership opened as Spieler Chrysler Plymouth in 1968 the name has changed to Spieler's, Inc. with the Dodge, Jeep and Ram franchises being added to the new vehicle line-up. Mr. Spieler's son, Kim, and daughter, Cinda, have worked in the dealership since 1976 and 1977 respectively. Besides offering the new vehicles for sale the dealership also sells pre-owned vehicles and has a full service and parts department.
