Secretary of State candidate Senator Will Kraus to speak at Republican Summer Picnic

State Senator Will Kraus, R-Lee's Summit, who recently announced as a 2016 candidate for Missouri Secretary of State, will be the special guest speaker at the annual Moniteau County Republican Club Summer Picnic, Thursday, July 17, at the Rohrbach Shelter House in California's Proctor Park.

A captain in the U.S. Army Reserve, Sen. Kraus is an Iraq veteran, leading men and women in that combat zone in 2003-04. After serving in the Missouri House for eight years, in 2010 he was elected to the Missouri Senate. He chairs the powerful Ways and Means Committee. During his time in the Senate, Kraus made businesses a priority. He has been an advocate for small businesses by sponsoring legislation to exempt them from Department of Revenue policy changes, as well as authoring Missouri's first tax rate cut in over 90 years.

"Will Kraus is a fine young man, a proven leader and has a bright future ahead of him," said club president Larry Rohrbach. "We are lucky to have him and encourage all Republicans in the county to come and meet him."

The program will also include recognition and brief remarks from local office holders and candidates. Meat, drinks, and table service will be provided. Those attending are asked to bring a side dish.
