Prairie Home R-V Board meeting held July 16

The Prairie Home R-V Board of Education met Wednesday, July 16, for regular session. Old business items discussed included the plan to pour the foundation for a bus barn with help from the community, which means finding a time when everyone can be brought together to do it. Also discussed was the new driveway entrances.

"We're still waiting on bids for the driveway entrances to come in," Prairie Home R-V Superintendent Steven Barnes said.

Barnes said the bulk of discussion at the meeting involved progress of the building repairs, which are a result of the damage the facility sustained over the summer, from storms on June 4 and July 7. "We're moving forward but it's taking time," Barnes said. "We were without power for several days after the second storm hit us and it set our schedule back. I won’t go into detail regarding what is and isn't done, but if we stay on track, we should complete everything shortly after the start of school. We're getting a couple of temporary mobile classrooms for the elementary and we plan to start school on time.."

The first day of school at Prairie Home R-V is Wednesday, Aug. 20.

The Board approved two bids at the July 16 meeting.

"MFA Oil got the fuel bid for our buses," Barnes said. "And Springfield Grocer was awarded the bread and milk bid for next year."

The Board also approved the ASBR (Annual Secretary of the Board Report), which includes the year-end financial information.

"Our unrestricted fund balance was 32.15%, which is pretty good," Barnes said.

The Board set the tuition rate for the 2014-15 school year at $4500.

The next Prairie Home R-V B.O.E. meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20.
