Three vie for Miss Moniteau County Tuesday

Three young ladies will vie for the Miss Moniteau County at the fair Tuesday, Aug. 5, at 6 p.m. The contestants are Libby Martin, Kelsey Bias and Emma Huhmann.

Kelsey Bias is the daughter of Debbie Strickfaden and Kenny Bias, California. She will be entering her senior year at Cole County R-I, Russellville. Bias has been very active while in high school with choir, FFA and cheerleading. She has been on the track team, the yearbook committee and chapter historian for 2014. She was crowned the 2012 Barnwarming Princess. She entered hams at the state fair and won Grand Champion FFA Ham in 2013, second place ham in 2013 and a third pace ham in 2012. Bias enjoys running and competes in archery competitions. She recently participated and is now two time State Games 3D Archery Champion for 2013-2014 and MBH 3D Archery Champion in 2013. In special training she has had piano lessons as well as voice lessons and she has been singing and performing since the age of five. After graduating high school, Bias plans to attend college and work towards becoming a professional photo journalist.

Emma Huhmann is the daughter of John Huhmann and Dr. Sara Bohn, Tipton. She will be entering her senior year at Tipton R-6 High School. She has been involved in school in FFA, Speech Club, Chamber Choir, band and FCCLA. Huhmann's hobbies include reading, writing, horseback riding, singing and acting. Huhmann has been in several plays and has had musical instructions for 10 years. She loves traveling abroad and discovering new cultures. She is a current member of People to People Student Ambassadors, which has allowed her to travel to Europe and Australia. She is of the Catholic faith and is a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Tipton. Huhmann's ambition in life is to get a college degree, travel to Germany and become a hospital administrator.

Libby Martin is the daughter of Lori Martin and Ronnie Martin, Clarksburg. She is a 2014 graduate of California R-I High School. Martin was involved in several activities while in school including volleyball, basketball and track. She was in the National Honor Society and on the student council. She graduated in the top 10 of her class. Martin was highly involved in FFA and served as chapter president. She enjoys working as a veterinarian assistant in Centertown and advocating for agriculture through her Missouri State FFA office. She was in concert choir, womens choir, mixed choir and Sounds of Joy. She also held roles in musicals. She enjoys playing the piano and has taken lessons for nine years. She is active in her church and has worked on several mission teams throughout the year. Martin will be attending the University of Missouri in the fall as an Animal Science Major with a minor in Agriculture Education Leadership. She is on a pre-vet track to become a small and large animal veterinarian.
