Two in custody, 1 sought on Miller County burglary charges

Two men are in custody and a third is being sought in connection with burglaries reported Tuesday, May 27 in Miller County.

Information from the Miller County Sheriff's Office shows Justin Moore, 34, Alan Balsley, 33, and Nathan Belt, 30, of California, Missouri, each have been charged with three counts of second-degree burglary, two counts of stealing a motor vehicle and two counts of stealing. Moore and Balsley are currently being held in the Miller County Jail, and the sheriff's office continues to seek Belt.

Miller County deputies responded to a dispatch call at approximately 4:45 a.m. May 27 at a residence near Eldon regarding the burglary.

The stolen items included two all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and a lawn tractor taken from the attached garage of the residence and a barn on the property. It appeared that the house had been entered through the garage door and some belongings were rummaged through, but nothing else was stolen at that time.

Photos from a game camera mounted near the driveway entrance show the three male subjects driving onto the property pulling a flatbed trailer, which helped the sheriff's office to identify them.

Miller County Sheriff Bill Abbott, along with the Moniteau County Sheriff's Office, executed a search warrant on a residence north of California, where Miller County detectives and Moniteau County deputies tried to make contact with Moore. Moore and Balsley were taken into custody, and arraignments have been held for both

The stolen properties, worth more than $68,000, as well as two battery chargers and a torpedo heater reported stolen during a separate burglary May 21 at the same residence, were recovered.

The Miller County Sheriff's Office is requesting help in locating Belt. Anyone with information regarding Belt's whereabouts should contact the sheriff's office at 573-369-2341 or their local law enforcement agency.
