City Council special sessions

Monday, June 16, was a busy evening at the California City Hall in the City Council Chambers with two special sessions.

First was a Public Hearing, at 6 p.m., to obtain any citizen comment on the demolition project. Funding in part with Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) moneys, the project of demolition of privately owned deteriorated residential structures unoccupied for at least two years, is rated at 98 percent complete. The remainder of the work to be done is the completion of the required documentation.

There is unlikely to be more funding available for the present. According to City Clerk Brian Scrivner, the city was able to obtain some of the last of the currently available CDBG funds for residential demolition.

The second meeting, at 7 p.m., was a special city council meeting for bid approval. The bids for a 75 kva three-phase pad-mount transformer for the electric needs for the new CHS football field was approved. The bid went to B&B for $3,950.

Also approved was a bid for work to be done on Noas Street for $34,000. A new headwall and drain pipe will be installed.

Current liability insurance carrier TriDent was the winning bidder for the general liability insurance at a rate of $114,662. The bid also increased the deductibles in three areas.
