CPI discusses need for board members

The need for new board members to serve California Progress, Inc. (CPI) was high on the agenda for June 19, at the organization's regular monthly meeting. With board changes in the last few years, the terms are up for half of the board members. In addition, another current board member resigned due not being able to commit the time needed.

It is hoped that board members will come from all facets of the population. Since the aims, goals, plans and projects of CPI are broad ranging, the board is looking for an equally broad range of prospective members of both CPI in general and the board specifically.

The board also reviewed the California Historic District (CHD) work plans. Since the CHD falls under the CPI board of directors, the work plans are reviewed and approved by the CPI board. The Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) revolving loans fund has received donations totaling $35,000.

In other business, the board approved having a booth at the Ozark Ham and Turkey Festival and of holding the "Wine, Dine and Win" fundraiser event next year. The location of the fundraiser has yet to be decided. Several locations are under consideration.

The next board meeting is scheduled for noon July 17, at the California Event Center. The center, on the west side of the Courthouse Square in California, is expected to open for business soon.
