Sakelaris Ford sponsored a California High School FBLA Drive 4 UR School event Saturday, March 22, at the high school parking lot. FBLA school sponsors are Jonathan Lindquist and Mary Thomas.

The dealership brought out 14 vehicles, almost all varieties from compact to full-sized, pickups, cars, CUVs (crossovers) and SUVs. There were 90 people who took a test drive of the vehicles. Since the Ford Motor Company contributes $20 to the school for each person who takes a test drive, the school gains $1,800 from the program.

Ford Motor Company developed the Drive 4 UR School program in 2007 to help raise funds for local high schools to help raise funds for local high schools. This program gives schools and their clubs, groups and extracurricular activities an opportunity to raise money to continue or expand their operations. Assisted by local Ford dealerships, schools organize, promote and hold a one day Ford test drive event . Every qualified test drive completed at the event, Ford donates $20 to the school, with a goal of raising up to $6,000 total.

The opportunities were expanded to include more groups in 2012. In just a few years, nearly 5,000 events have been held around the country. More than $20 million has been raised for the sponsoring programs.
