Indians host double-header with Eldon

The Russellville Indians hosted Eldon in a doubleheader Saturday, where they came back from a 12-5 loss to win the second game 4-3.

"It was important we came back and played well after losing the first game of the double-header," Russellville Coach Lucas Branson said. "We got a good pitching performance from the guys we sent out to the mound to keep us in the game and give us a chance to get the key hit when we needed it."

Alex Thompson recorded the win with two strikeouts.

Clayton Thompson led Russellville hits with a single and two RBI. Ryland Johnson and Zach Voss each had a single as well. Nick Haslag and Alex Thompson each had one RBI.

Haslag led Russellville hits in the 12-5 loss to Eldon with a home run and three RBI. Johnson had a single and one RBI, and Thompson had a double. Kaleb Libbert and Chase Smith each contributed a single, and Voss had one RBI.

Previously, Russellville hosted Southern Boone Friday night, where the Indians lost 6-3 to the Eagles.

"Our kids really competed in this game, but we didn't get the timely hits when we had scoring chances," Branson said. "We've been stressing the importance of being focused when getting into the batters box, so I think we are close to breaking out offensively."

Tanner Morrow led Russellville hits with a double, a single and two RBI. Thompson had two singles, and Smith and Haslag each contributed a single.

Russellville's JV lost 3-2 to Southern Boone. Chase Pistel recorded the loss with five strikeouts. Jordan Malzner led Indian hits with a single and one RBI, and Seth Kuda had a double.

The Indians traveled to Jamestown for make-up games Wednesday, April 30, where the varsity Indians defeated the Eagles 11-4.

Smith recorded the win with four strikeouts.

Voss led Russellville hits with a home run and three RBI. Libbert contributed a single and three RBI. Smith had three singles, Morrow had a single and two RBI, and Johnson had a double and a single.

Haslag had two singles, and Caleb Harrison had a double.

Russellville's JV defeated Jamestown 10-1. Voss recorded the win with six strikeouts.

Cole Freeman led Russellville hits with a double and two RBI. Curt Keller contributed a double and one RBI. Tyler Voss and Tyler Soell each had a single and one RBI, and Cole Dawson and Isaac Kirchner each contributed one RBI as well.

Russellville will host Eugene at 5 p.m. Thursday.
