Veterans Day display at High Point School

The Veterans Day Breakfast at High Point School this year had an additional feature. A special display in honor of veterans from America's war involvement since World War I.

Rolland Christiansen brought in a trailer for the veterans, students and visitors to view.

The trailer was packed with sandbags and decorated with entrenchment tools and a helmet, weapon and pair of boots from each of five wars. The weapons and boots surrounded a cross, with "Some Gave All" engraved on it.

The weapons were accurate for the war represented, with a 1903 Springfield rifle for World War I, M-1 rifles for World War II and Korea, a replica M-16 for the Vietnam War and an actual M-4 (not full automatic) for the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars. Service flags were flown from the trailer.

At 8 a.m., the Veterans Day breakfast began in the school. Service flags were mounted inside.

According to Administrator Steven Elliott, the U.S. flag on the monument outside the school was flown at full-staff, as directed by a Proclamation by the President the school officials received by email.
