Facade Loans available through Neighborhood Assistance Program

Those interested in application for a Facade Loan through the NAP (Neighborhood Assistance Program) should contact Ann Albertson at CPI, 573-796-3040. The maximum which can be borrowed is $15,000 to be used for facade improvements. Sidewalk improvement or replacement, if needed, falls into the category for which loans could be approved.

Other information discussed at the noon, Thursday, Nov. 20, meeting at the library, by the CPI (California Progress, Inc.) Board of Directors included the annual dinner meeting, the next California Historic District (CHD) training session, a vacant building discussed at previous meetings, flower boxes, and a proposed stock donation for the NAP fund.

The annual dinner meeting is special this year as it commemorates the silver anniversary of the CPI to be held Tuesday, Dec. 2, at the Community Event Center / High Street Grill on the west side of the Moniteau County Courthouse block. Many past officers and members of CPI have already confirmed that they plan to attend the dinner meeting.

The next California Historic District (CHD) training session was reset for Thursday, Jan. 22, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The proposed donation of a building on the courthouse square to a non-profit organization, tabled at the last meeting, was discussed. The most recent information about the building indicates that another business owner in the area may be interested in taking ownership, meaning that CPI would not be part of the ownership transfer process.

The Flower Box Project for the historic district has received funds for several of the boxes, with some promised but not yet received. The flower boxes are seasonal and will be picked up and stored by Longfellows Garden Center for the winter.

NAP Administrator Ann Albertson reported that a stock donation should be completed within a short time. The donation, when the stock is sold, is expected to bring the NAP (Neighborhood Assistance Program) Facade Loan funds to within about $3,000 of the $120,000 authorized for the 70 percent tax credit fund amount. Another entity has pledged to donate the additional funds needed. Those interested in application for a facade loan should contact Ann Albertson at CPI.

The next regular CPI board meeting is scheduled for noon Thursday, Jan. 15, at the library.
