Pintos dominate Eagles of Southern Boone

Jaden Barr and Drew Norton were on Friday night as the California Pintos put a damper on Homecoming for the Southern Boone Eagles.

Bar and Norton combined for four touchdown passes as the Pintos rolled to a 48-7 victory against the Eagles.

The duo got the scoring started in the first quarter on a 43-yard touchdown. Barr then hit Dylan Norton for a 2-point conversion and an 8-0 California lead.

In the second quarter, Barr scored early on a 1-yard keeper. Barr and Drew Norton combined from 10 yards out later in the period as California took a 20-0 lead into halftime.

The second half kickoff by California resulted in an immediate turnover as Walker Borghardt recovered a fumble.

The Pintos lost little time in scoring as Barr and Norton combined for another 10-yard score. Jose Magana's PAT made it 24-0 just :19 in to the third quarter.

Allan Burger scored on a 55-yard touchdown later in the quarter and it was 31-0.

After a Barr interception halted a Southern Boone drive, the quarterback connected with Norton from 41 yards out and it was 38-0 heading into the final period.

The Pintos nailed a quick touchdown in the fourth quarter with a 37 yard run by A.J. Kendrick followed by a successful PAT by Magana. With 7:52 left to play the Eagles scored their only touchdown with a carry by Cole Morris followed by a successful PAT by Magana.

The Pintos ended with 32 carries for 223 yards while Barr completed 9-of-12 passes for 177 yards and the four touchdowns.

Kendrick led California rushing with 89 yards on eight carries. Burger had five carries for 74 yards, Barr had seven carries for 23 yards. Drew Norton finished six receptions for 129 yards, including the four touchdowns.

Burger led California tackles with eight stops. Nathan Squires had seven and Brandon Gump had six. Barr, Dylan Norton and Borghardt each had an interception.

Southern Boone had 29 carries for 93 yards, and completed 4-of-13 passes for 23 yards.

California (6-0, state-ranked No. 2 in Class 3) will host Blair Oaks for Homecoming game at 7 p.m. Friday at Riley Field. The winner of this game will have a big leg up in both the Tri-County Conference race and the district standings.
