Prairie Home students recently selected to be Boonville FFA junior officers were Alyssa Sanders, Reporter and Ty Stinson, Sentinel. The selection process included an application, interview, test and vote by advisers and students. Congratulations to Alyssa and Ty.

The United Methodist Church generally holds its fellowship dinner on the fourth Sunday of each month. This month, they will have the fellowship dinner on Sunday, Oct. 12, immediately following the 11 a.m. worship service. Gospel Bluegrass performing artist Alan Sibley and the Magnolia Ramblers will be performing at the worship and will be the guests at lunch. All are invited to attend.

The CCAA Choral Clinic is Oct. 14 at Jamestown. The clinician will be Dr. Alan Zabriskie who teaches at the University of Central Missouri. Selections for the concert include: Come in From the Firefly Darkness; Come to Me, Oh My Love; God Bless America; Benedicamus Domino; Swingin' with the Saints; and Hallelujah. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. with admission of $2 adult and $1/student. Attend and show your support of the musicians.

High School counselor Sharon Lucas reports that State Fair Community College is offering High School Equivalency test preparation. Classes are completely free and $50 vouchers to help pay for the Hi-set exam are available in the school's guidance office. Classes are offered in Appleton City, Boonville, Carrollton, Clinton, Lexington, Marshall, Osceola, Sedalia, Warrensburg, Warsaw, and Windsor. Give the gift of life! The High School Career and Family Leadership Class will be holding a Blood Drive Thursday, Oct. 30, from 2 to 6 p.m.

Parents as Teachers is being sponsored again by the school. In 1981, Missouri pioneered the concept of helping parents embrace their important role as their child's first and best teacher. Parents as Teachers is a free service for parents with children birth to three, providing home visits, parent education, help with government services. The National Honor Society has announced its officers for the 2014-15 school year: President -Amber Carmichael; Vice President - Brooke Emmerich; Secretary - Danielle Paulson; Treasurer - Makayla Zey; Historian - Ally Small. Other members are Josie Flood, Kim Hettinger, Klay Holliday, Blake Huggins, Rayce Kendrick, Ben Stock, Cecelia Wright, Josey Wright, Kody Utterback and Tyler Young.

The FCCLA has two members who are regional officers: President - Josey Wright; Vice President - Cecelia Wright. FCCLA Chapter officers are: president - Sam Distler; vice president - Nina Cherry; secretary - Sage Eichenburch; historian - Alyssa Sanders; reporter - Ben Kixmiller.

Music teacher Leah Meyer has announced that Rachel Distler, Nina Cherry, and Sage Eichenburch, have been selected to perform in the 9th/10th Grade Honor Choir. That will perform with the All-District Choir and Women's Choir on Oct. 11, at 5:30 p.m. at Smith - Cotton High School in Sedalia.

Jerry and Glenda Sells spent the weekend in Boulder, Colo. with Craig and Renee Sells and Julian, Minneapolis, and Gregory Sells, Cupertino, Calif. They also visited Red Rocks and Rocky Mountain National Park in Estes Park.

The Garden Club members shared a barbecue with spouses at the home of Sue and Jim Denny, Lupus. Those attending were Melanie and Brad Carraher, Patti and Reed Vonder Haar, Tom and Jenna Moran, Jerry and Glenda Sells, Eva and Martin Bellmann, Peggy Ann Eichen, Gary Burch and Linda Keith.
