The California High School cross country team competed at the Helias Invitational Saturday at Binder Park, Jefferson City, where the varsity boys were led by Adam Burkett, while the varsity girls were led by Katie Imhoff.

Burkett medaled with a third place finish and Hunter Carpenter placed 16th.

Imhoff medaled with 12th place finish individually for the Lady Pintos. She was followed by Jasmine Wells, 13th, Savanna Qualls, 14th and Halle Oliver, 16th.

According to Coach Kenny Goans, "Adam Burkett ran his best race of the year so far this season. He came out fast and was able to put the pressure on some of the other runners. Savanna Qualls looked very strong with the hills and kept a nice solid pace throughout the race. Although their times weren't the best this season due to the muddy and hilly course, Hunter Carpenter and Tyler Long also ran a strong race. I'm excited about the Tri-County Conference on Thursday at Eldon as this race sets the stage for districts. Our three seniors, Alex Higginbotham, Jacob Collier and Jasmine Wells, will be recognized for senior night at Eldon."
