Mid-Mo Ambulance board amends budget for fiscal year

The Mid-Mo Ambulance budget for fiscal year 2014-15, approved at the August board meeting, was amended at the meeting Wednesday, Oct. 8, to the actual ending balance of funds on hand.

Administrator Lee Kempf reported the actual ending balance was $501,894.12. The projected amount of funds on hand at the end of the fiscal year, Sept. 30, was $305,000, but did not include the sales tax collections from September. The sales tax monies were $80,000 more than the previous year, making the difference between projected and actual funds on hand nearly $200,000.

With the amendments to the budget, total projected funds for the fiscal year which began Oct. 1 are $3,125,035.02, with reserve funds at $275,535.02. Prior to the approval of the amendments, projected funds budgeted were $2,928,140.90, with reserve funds projected amount to $78,640.90. Projected expenses remain the same at $2,849,500.

The new ambulance purchased by the district cost $154,391 from ARV. It has been paid for.

In reviewing the bills, the question of why the Versailles electric bill, at $525.06, was a little higher than Tipton's electric bill which includes the base and the district office. The board instructed Kempf to have the Versailles base air conditioner checked out and to see what it would take to connect the base to the natural gas line.

The board accepted the bid of $29,040 from Planet SOS, Versailles, for eight "Tough Pads" needed for ambulances. The bid, while a little higher than another bid, was accepted in part because there will be someone nearby to handle possible repairs and maintenance if needed. No differences were found in the products offered.

The board approved payment for bills and payroll. In other business, the September treasurer's report of the balance on hand was $501,897.12. Run statistics were: Tipton - 52 calls with 31 transports; California - 72 calls, 47 transports; Versailles - 136 calls, 95 transports; and Barnett - 39 calls, 20 transports. District wide, there were 299 calls with 193 transports for a transport rate on patient contact calls of 72.6 percent.

Run statistics for fiscal year 2013-14 were: Tipton - 566 calls with 404 transports; California - 805 calls, 539 transports; Versailles - 1645 calls, 1137 transports; and Barnett - 494 calls, 314 transports. District wide, there were 3510 calls with 2391 transports for a transport rate on patient contact calls of 76.3 percent.

The next regular board meeting is Nov. 12, 2014.
