Historical Society annual dinner slated for Nov. 10

The Moniteau County Historical Society met Monday, Oct. 13, at the Cultural Heritage center meeting room. The business meeting was called to order by President Dottie Gump. The minutes of the previous meeting and treasurer's report were reviewed by the group and approved.

The president asked for reports from the various committees.

Irma Plaster reported the annual dinner is to be held at St. Paul's Lutheran church on Nov. 10 at 6:30. The price is $10. Reservations should be made by Nov. 3 and can be made by calling Plaster at 796-2794.

The speaker for the evening will be noted author and historian Tom Rafiner. He is an authority on the Civil war

Paul Jungmeyer representing the Jungmeyer family gifted the society with a quilt that had been given to their mother Fannie Haldiman Jungmeyer by the Red Brush School Class of 1930/31 when she was their teacher.

The main item of the business meeting was voting on the 2014 recipient of the Moniteau Award which will be announced at the annual dinner in November.
