Only a few more days to pledge for school

The "Celebrate My Drive" began Oct. 15 and goes until Friday, Oct. 24. Those who go on www.celebratemydrive.com, enter the required information including school "California, MO High School" and zip code "65018" and then take a two-question quiz, will help the school in its effort to win $25,000 for technology purchases. Each person may enter once a day. Right or wrong answers to the questions make no difference - the fact of trying counts towards the goal of obtaining enough entries to win.

As of Monday morning, California was in 26th place. The top 50 small schools will each be awarded $25,000. The Leadership Class, Librarian Janet Henley and several other California teachers have worked with the students to put together presentations, a YouTube video "Pintos Drive Safe" and brochures.

Two students - Jasmine Wells, a member of the Student Council as well as FFA and DECA, and Matt Oerly, Student Body Vice President, member of Sounds of Joy and FFA, made the rounds Monday morning. They visited the KRLL radio and California Democrat offices for last minute encouragement of school patrons to boost the numbers to make the Pintos a winning team in an entirely different venue.
