Tipton school board approves final curriculum

The Tipton R-VI School Board approved unanimously the final curriculum for the high school and junior high school at the regular monthly meeting, Monday, Oct. 13.

The audit report for 2013-14 was presented to the board by Lynn Graves of Lynn Graves and Associates, CPAs, LLC. The audit report was good with an unqualified opinion given. The board unanimously approved the report.

The board approved a three-year extension in the contract with Graves' auditing firm. The board also gave unanimous approval for Septagon Construction to be the construction manager for the proposed April 2015 bond issue. Four firms applied for the job.

Since the district has gone with outside contracted food services with OPAA!, the food service director was removed from the "classified" salary schedule. While the contracting company may utilize the current employees, if they wish to continue with the district, the food service director will not be retained.

Elementary Principal Kelly Kohler reported current enrollment for K-6 at 284, down from 286 a year ago. The elementary teachers are looking at the MAP results from the spring tests and are creating Smart Goals to "address concerns" found in the MAP test results. This year, the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education will be using a computer generated test.

Junior High / High School Principal Ellen Allee reported seventh and eighth grade enrollment at 87. High school enrollment was reported at 226.
