The California High School varsity and JV cross country teams competed with 18 other schools at the Fatima Invitational Saturday in Westphalia.

Overall, the varsity girls placed second as a team. Individual medalist was Katie Imhoff in 11th place.

The varsity boys placed fourth as a team. Adam Burkett placed second and Hunter Carpenter, 20th, were individual medalists.

"Fatima is always a tough course with its hills and woods." Coach Kenny Goans said. "The heat made the course even more difficult. I was pleased with our team effort on both squads. Imhoff and Burkett both had strong finishes with the last mile. Mason Albertson and Carpenter ran their best race of the year. Jacob Collier was only a second away from a personal record on the toughest course of the year. Savanna Qualls and Halle Oliver ran a nice race to help us finish one point above third place."

The Class 2 District 4 cross country meet will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 1, at Linn High School.
