Moniteau County 911 had possible lightning hit

The Moniteau County 911 Emergency Dispatch Center Board of Directors board monthly meeting was Oct. 21. At the meeting, the board approved the minutes of the Sept. 11 monthly meeting and was provided with information on equipment damage believed to have been a lightning strike. Administrator Corey Sullivan said the incident, believed to have been a lightning strike, occurred on Thursday, Oct. 2, about 4:40 a.m. and 7:50 a.m. He assured everyone that 911 Emergency phone services were not lost at any time.

The business office phone lost its programming, the IBM server wasn't working correctly after that time and the 911 phone system server wasn't providing the 911 caller phone number or address information. Several technicians worked on getting the system back to full operation, replacing a network card and a phone card which were not working properly. Operations were back on track by early Saturday morning.

Items which were not functioning after the incident known so far included a TV in the dispatch room, network clocks, a business phone, a network switch, a microphone for the lobby door and a USB to serial cable.

The board approved $3,000 towards the cost of the Moniteau County GIS flyover. The cost is to be shared by several entities including California and the county. The board also approved the proposal of Geo-Comm to update and correct the mapping layers at a cost of $24,637, with $10,000 to paid at the start of the project.. According to the treasurer's report, sales tax received was $66,456.10. The MMDA account balance as of Oct. 14 was $537,199.34. The CD balance was about $102,500 as of Aug. 31. The total payroll was: Sept. 25 - $9,408.42; Oct. 8 - $9,407.31. Overall payroll taxes were $7,396.60. Total accounts payable approved at the meeting amounted to $13,300.57.

The next monthly meeting is 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at the 911 Center.
