Irvin speaks to Moniteau County Democrat Club

The Moniteau County Democratic Club had its monthly meeting at the Nic Nac Café Thursday, Aug. 28.

A report was heard from the four workers who volunteered at the Democratic booth at the Missouri State Fair Aug. 9. It was decided to wait until October to do the highway pickup on the mile along Highway 50 east. It should be cooler so doing the pick up would be more comfortable. There was a discussion regarding the club's opposition to the amendment to be voted on in the November election that negatively impacts teacher tenure. There is a plan to have a speaker on the amendments that will be on the ballot in November to better inform everyone on these issues.

The speaker for the evening was Nate Irvin, the candidate for the Fourth Congressional district opposing Vicky Hartzler. Irvin spoke on a variety of issues and outlined what made him different from his opponent.

The next meeting of the club will be Sept. 25.
