Stephanie Stokes, stylist and owner of Something Sassy Beauty Salon LLC, California, and stylist Schelle Stokes recently attended the Paul Mitchell "Revolution-The Gathering" Aug. 4-5 in Las Vegas, Nev. to further their education and to stay on top of the latest trends.

The annual event brings together Paul Mitchell hairdressers, salon owners, managers and partners for two days of networking, education and fun. Held at the Aria Resort and Casino, the two-day event offered classes in salon business, hairdressing techniques and treatments, and social media for over 3,000 hairstylists and salon owners from around the world.

John Paul Mitchell Systems, better known as Paul Mitchell, is one of the most successful professional hair care brands in the world. Products produced by this brand are used in more than 85 countries, and the company operates more than 1,000 beauty schools that provide training to stylists.

"We took four hands-on two-hour classes," Stephanie said. "We did mens haircutting, braiding, and two color classes. A lot of it we already knew, but we learned faster, more efficient techniques. We learned a lot. We met stylists just like us who just want to better themselves.'

Stephanie added, "Paul Mitchell is all about giving back. I learned their goal is to plant 500,000 trees in the rain forest by 2015. They said because they take so much from the environment for their hair care products, they want to give back."

Stephanie said her personal goal is to get her customers involved in product recycling. "We already recycle at the salon, but I want to encourage our customers to do the same. They can bring empty bottles to me, which will keep them out of landfills, and I will give the customer 10% off of a new product."
