The California CROP Walk for 2014 was Sunday, Sept. 7, beginning at 4 p.m. The walkers met at the Lions Club Shelter House at Proctor Park.

The group walked, did some group singing and enjoyed hotdogs, chips, cookies, tea and lemonade. The theme of the event was "Ending Hunger One Step at a Time." The total of funds raised at the California CROP Walk was $23,356.83.

A portion of the funds raised this year will be utilized by the Moniteau Christian Ministries Center for the food pantry and the buddy pack program. The interfaith CROP Walks are part of Church World Service (CWS). The events raise funds to assist local communities, helping in having fresh water and provide animals, seeds and training to help people provide for their families.
