Burkett, Imhoff lead California at Fulton Invitational

The California High School cross country teams competed at the Fulton Invitational Saturday, where Adam Burkett led the varsity Pintos as he medaled with 17:52 to finish 18th, and Katie Imhoff led the Lady Pintos with 22:04 to medal in 24th place.

"Overall, we keep improving as a team as our total times are decreasing," California Head Coach Kenny Goans said. "I'm somewhat concerned, however, that as most times are dropping, we tend to keep having a few times only maintaining or even increasing. It really hurts the team score when one or two runners have inconsistent times."

Fatima won the boys division at the Fulton Invitational with 105, while Helias won the girls division with 55.

"On a more positive note, 10 of our 13 runners ran a personal best for the season, and six runners broke their personal career record," Goans said. "Experienced runners Mason Albertson, a junior, and sophomores Tyler Long, Micaiah Garcia and Hunter Carpenter each broke their personal career record. Newcomer Jasmine Wells, a senior, and freshman newcomer Halle Oliver also had personal bests."

The CHS cross country runners will compete at the Helias Invitational Saturday, Oct. 11.
