Democrat club hosts area candidates

The Moniteau County Democrat Club held its monthly meeting at the Nic Nac Café Thursday March 26. Plans were finalized for the Truman Day Dinner scheduled for May 1. Taunia Adams will chair the event. It was decided to schedule a highway pickup project for the last of April.

The program for the evening featured a public meeting with the candidates. All candidates for the local school board and city election for April were invited to meet with those in attendance and make a short presentation. Candidates present for the school board were Paul Bloch, Paula Wolken and Jay Vandieren. Kristie Glenn had another commitment and the other candidate did not respond to the invitation. The candidates for the city election attending were Darryl Ellicott, Charlie Roll, and Norris Gerhart. Carol Rackers was out of town and the other candidate did not respond to the invitation. All the speakers expressed their desire to serve and make California a better community for all its citizens.
