Johnson becomes Eagle Scout

Nathan Johnson, son of Barbara Riggs and Jay Johnson, was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout at a ceremony at the Main Street Baptist Church. He began his scouting career by joining Cub Scout Pack 120, where he earned all of the ranks from Tiger to Webelo. He earned his Arrow of Light Award as well as many belt loops and activity pins while in the Cub Scouts. He was the Pinewood Derby District Champion as a Webelo and also won many other trophies throughout his Cub Scout years. Nathan attended summer camp at Camp Hohn and Camp Thunderbird during these years. He also earned the God and Me award and religious knot.

After crossing over from Cub Scouts to the Boy Scouts, he joined Boy Scout Troop 120. As a member of Troop 120 he served as Game Master, Troop Scribe for three years, and Senior Patrol Leader for one year. He earned 30 merit badges and became a membe of the Order of Arrow. Nathan attended summer camp at Camp Hohn three years. He completed a 20 mile hike with his troop along the Katy Trail. He attended the 100 Anniversary of Scouting Jamboree in 2010 which was held at Fayette. He has volunteered over 486 hours at the Moniteau County Wood Place Library and particpated in numerous other service projects in the California community.

For his Eagle Scout project, Johnson installed a flagpole which holds the American and Christian Flags. He also completed landscaping around the flagpole which is at the front of the Main Street Baptist Church. He led scouts, friends and church volunteers in helping him dig and place the flagpole in ground and putting stepping stones leading up to the flagpole from the sidewalk. He put in several hours calling, planning and working on the project.

Johnson is a senior at California High School where he is on the Honor Roll and is involved with F.F.A. He is the president of the youth group at Main Street Baptist Church where he attends services.
