Carla Knipp recognized at SWCD banquet

Carla Knipp was recognized for being selected as the 2014 State Educator of the year on Dec. 11, 2014, at the State MASWCD Annual Conference. This recognition was given at the Thursday, March 26, annual meeting of the Moniteau County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD).

She was named the named 2013 Moniteau County Soil and Water Conservation District Teacher of the Year in April of 2014.

Knipp is a teacher at St. Andrew School, Tipton. Over the years at the school, she has served as music teacher, eighth grade homeroom teacher, sixth grade general sciences, seventh grade life science and eighth grade physical science. She has also served as interim principal. She said she enjoys teaching science and tries to make it fun for the students.

Knipp went to high school in Warrenton, earned a B.A. in Chemistry from University of Central Missouri, Warrensburg. She then worked at ABC Labs, Columbia, the Department of Natural Resources and then served as quality assurance consultant for several laboratories. She received a master's degree in Education in 2010.

Knipp and her husband Dale reside outside of Tipton on a small farm, where they brought up their daughters Rosalee, Clara and Elizabeth. They stay busy with the sheep, cattle and other animals. Carla is involved in the community, and at St. Andrew's church, where she serves as pianist and singer. In her spare time, she reports enjoying baking and playing the piano.
