CPI receives reports from CHD committees

The California Progress, Inc. (CPI) Board of Directors was presented with reports from representatives of the four committees of the California Historic District (CHD).

The Organization Committee report included information about the fundraisers being worked on, specifically a "Dancing with the Stars" event planned for the fall. The Design Committee report included information about "wayfaring" signage possibilities and the planters to be purchased and placed on the sidewalks in the California Historic District in the spring.

The Promotion Committee report included information on the "Mini-Museum Crawl," planned for May 30 and the Cinco de Mayo event planned for May 2. Still being sought are small collections of interest to be placed in local businesses which are taking part in the "museum crawl" event.

The Economic Restructuring Committee included a brief review of the MRED strategic planning meeting which occurred on March 11, as well as, a discussion of the business contacts of the Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) facade and sidewalk grants. Representatives are to be sent to the conference of Missouri Main Street Connection in Kansas City in July.

In old business, the old copier is no longer working. Another will be purchased and the old one gotten rid of. The "Wine, Dine and Win" event is being planned for October. Plans are to have it in the City of California this year.

Under new business, consideration was given to the possible donation of a brick building near the railroad tracks and the cost of the CHD website will begin to be billed to CHD, rather than a private individual as it is now.

It was also noted that Susan Burger, CPI Executive Director, was attending the conference of Missouri Main Street Connection in Branson on the day of the meeting. The next meeting is 6 p.m. Thursday, April 16, at the Moniteau County Library at Wood Place, second floor.
