Cody Worthley, District 5, and Becky Holloway, District 2, were sworn in by Notary Tasha Knapheide as returning members of the Mid-Mo Ambulance Board of Directors. They will each serve three-year terms. The swearing in was done during the regular meeting, Wednesday, April 8, at the Tipton district office. Following old business, officers were elected by the board. The results are: Earl Reuter - president; Cody Worthley - vice president; Becky Holloway - treasurer. Brenda West was appointed secretary.

Administrator Lee Kempf informed the board that the FAA has approved the purchase by Mid-Mo Ambulance of the Latham tower for $2,500. The purchase is awaiting an environmental impact study. Kempf is in the process of drawing up a contract with the owner of the property where the tower is located. Mid-Mo has utilized the tower for many years, even though it has been owned by the FAA. The purchase of the tower once it was released for sale was approved by the board after discussion.

The board approved the purchase of a John Deere gator owned by Versailles Rural Fire District. The gator has a "med bed" which allows patients to be carried on it. The ambulance district borrows it every year for the Apple Festival, and Kempf believes it is worth the $4,000 asked.

The board considered the bids for bulk order supplies, and approved the bid from Zoll Medical for supplies for the cardiac monitors and auto-pulse boards in the amount of $14,629.90. The board also approved the bid BoundTree submitted for alternative to name brand supplies in the amount of $20,987.19.

Questions asked last month were answered about high bills from Barnett and Versailles ambulance bases. Secretary Brenda West determined the bills in question were normal, with the heat bill from Barnett being from mid-December and January. The Versailles phone bill is because there are more lines and the carrier's rates are higher than the other carriers. All the bills and payroll were approved.

The board approved the final draft of the leave policy which had revisions from the last meeting. Two patient accounts were presented to the board with letters indicating very extreme circumstances. After discussion, the board decided to write off both accounts.

In other business, the February treasurer's report balance on hand was $481,568.41. Run statistics were: Tipton - 50 calls with 41 transports; California - 74 calls, 48 transports; Versailles - 155 calls, 103 transports; and Barnett - 41 calls, 29 transports. District wide, there were 320 calls with 221 transports for a transport rate of 77 percent on patient contact calls.

The next regular meeting is set for Wednesday, May 13, at the Tipton district office.
