Baseball: Jamestown roundup

JAMESTOWN -The Eagles hosted the Tigers on Saturday for a varsity doubleheader and came away with two wins to improve their record to 7-1. They won the first game 4-2 and completed the sweep with the 5-3 in the afternoon.

Garrett Wolfe started on the mound for Jamestown, allowing two runs - none earned - on four hits in a complete game, and he struck out 12 Tiger batters. He was also 1-for-2 from the plate with a double, an RBI and two runs scored.

Evan Knierim was 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.

Jamestown scored two early runs in the first, and a run in the third and sixth.

Wolfe and Knierim doubled in runs in the first, and Knierim's double in the third scored another run. After the Tigers cut the Eagle lead to 3-2 in the sixth, Wyatt Hunziker singled to left to bring home Colton DeVore.

Alex Gerlach started the second game on the bump, pitching six innings, allowing two runs - one earned - on six hits. He was also 2-for-4 from the plate with two singles, an RBI and a run scored.

Wolfe was 2-for-4 and two runs scored and Knierim was 1-for-4 with two RBI.

The Eagles scored two in the first off a double by Knierim, and Hunziker scored in the second after a Gerlach single to left to give them the 3-0 lead. They added another run in the fifth when Hunziker singled to right to score DeVore.
