Baseball: Russellville roundup

RUSSELLVILLE - The Indians hosted a 7-0 South Callaway team last Thursday, losing 11-0 in six innings. South Callaway put up crooked numbers in three different innings, and outhit Russellville 12-5.

Isaac Kirchner took the loss, allowing eight earned runs on 10 hits in five innings. The Indians defense commit four errors behind that allowed some runs to score.

"Isaac as a pitcher, made some good pitches," said Russellville coach Lucas Branson. "It's unfortunate for him that some of the mistakes we made defensively kind of costed him and made him throw some extra pitches."

RUSSELLVILLE - Tuscumbia homered twice in the first inning to jump out to an early lead, as they cruised past Russellville 7-1 on Monday.

Ryland Johnson started for the Indians, pitching six innings while allowing seven runs - five earned - on nine hits. He also struck out six. Seth Kuda was 2-for-2 from the plate, as Russellville could only record three hits.

Isaac Kirchner scored a run in the second, after an error by the first baseman, to cut the lead to 2-1.

Tuscumbia scored a run in the third and two in the fourth and sixth innings to pull away.

RUSSELLVILLE - The indians fell behind 5-0 in the first inning and could never bounce back, falling to Fatima 10-4 on Tuesday.

Cory Minor pitched three innings in relief, allowing just two hits and no runs. The Comets chased Seth Kuda in the first, and got to Zach Voss fifth before Minor came in.

Zach Voss pitched 3 1/3 innings, giving up five runs - two earned - on six hits.

Caleb Harrison and Tyler Voss led an offense that had nine total hits. Harrison was 2-for-4 with two doubles and Tyler Voss was 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Down 10-1, the Indians showed some life in the sixth, scoring three runs in the inning to cut the deficit to 10-4.

The Indians (3-8, 0-4) travel to Harrisburg on Thursday at 5 p.m.
