Community meeting for health needs slated for May 6

The Central Missouri Community Health Assessment Partnership (CMCHA Partnership) for the central region of Missouri (Cole, Miller, Moniteau and Osage counties) is working to improve the health of residents through a collaborative strategy.

The CMCHA Partnership seeks to increase awareness and build support for health needs and health access improvement strategies. In this effort, central Missouri has a unique opportunity for its local leaders, health care consumers and health care providers to share their perceptions and experience in obtaining access to local health care services.

A community meeting for the California area is planned for Wednesday, May 6, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the City Hall public meeting room. Area residents are invited to attend this discussion session. If you wish to participate, please call Andrea Kincaid at 573-796-3412 to reserve your spot.

The purpose of the community discussion group is to increase understanding, awareness and build support for health needs and issues, increase awareness of improvement activities (including the awareness of and general reaction/input around a potential community health center for our community); and gather input, reaction and advice around health needs and improvement ideas.

The information gathered will be used to inform the CMCHA Partnership steering committee, and assist with identification of local resources, and what can be done to improve access to health services for the citizens/residents of central Missouri. The information that is collected will be available in a report later this year.

The CMCHA Partnership is sponsored by Capital Region Medical Center, SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital, Jefferson City Medical Group, The Community Health Center of Central Missouri, Cole County Health Department, Samaritan Center of Jefferson City, United Way of Central Missouri and the Missouri Primary Care Association.
