Hickory Hills Water and Sewer Systems changes hands

The Hickory Hills Water and Sewer System, which serves the Hickory Hills and Temple Terrace subdivisions just west of California, is now a part of Missouri American Water.

The acquisition of the Hickory Hills system was approved by the Missouri Public Service Commission (MoPSC) on Nov. 6 and finalized Dec. 10. The Hickory Hills system, with its 48 customers, will be incorporated into Missouri American Water's East Central Missouri Operation, which serves approximately 49,000 customers in Jefferson City, St. Charles, Warren and Jefferson Counties and Mexico, Missouri.

"We welcome these 48 new customers to our Missouri American Water customer family and look forward to providing them with top quality service," said Cheryl Norton, President of Missouri American Water

Customers have received letters with information about the water and sewer systems transition. The company plans a public meeting for early January, so customers can be informed about system upgrades and ask questions. Improvements are already being made, with water meters being replaced in the system immediately. The first monthly bills from the new water and sewer service provider will be received in mid-January.
