No bids so far for new California Mid-Mo base

Administrator Lee Kempf updated the Mid-Mo Ambulance Board at the regular monthly meeting, Wednesday, Dec. 9, on the status of the California Base construction plan. Request For Proposal notices were placed in several local weekly newspapers on Nov. 25-26, with bids to be accepted until 5 p.m., Dec. 23. As of the board meeting, no interest had been shown, or at least, no plans had been picked up. The board decided to again run the advertisement in the public notices of the local newspapers for two weeks before advertising in out-of-district newspapers.

In other business, the board approved payment for bills and payroll. The board approved a bid of $1,934 for a replacement heater for the Barnett base. The bid includes the new propane tube heater and installation. Also approved was a bid for repairs to the back of the Tipton base and offices. The work will be done in two stages, with the first stage of $3,330 for replacement of back windows and removal of exterior utilities. The second stage will be metal siding on the back to finish the exterior.

The November treasurer's report gave the balance on hand as $566,274.06.

Run statistics were: Tipton - 41 calls with 26 transports; California - 65 calls, 44 transports; Versailles - 133 calls, 88 transports; and Barnett - 28 calls, 22 transports. District wide, there were 267 calls with 180 transports for a transport rate on patient contact calls of 75.3 percent.

The next regular board meeting is Jan. 13.
